Shunt as a function of FiO2 for all patients. At FiO2 0.21 measurements were performed in 7 patients to ensure adequate saturation. At FiO2 ≥ 0.3 all patients were measured. Median, interquartile range and minimum/maximum are shown for every FiO2. Significant differences (P < 0.05) between FiO2 levels are denoted as following: caret (^) denotes the significant difference between FiO2 0.3 compared to 0.4 and 0.6, bullet (•) denotes the significant difference between FiO2 0.4 to 0.21, 0.3 and 1.0 and finally, asterisks (*) denote the significant differences between FiO2 0.5 and 0.6 compared to 1.0
